XXL CONSTRUCTIONS designed, supplied and constructed a servicing bay and mechanical workshop structure for Mercedes-Benz Macgregor.

The cold form steel portal frame structure designed by XXL CONSTRUCTIONS seamlessly adjoins and abuts Mercedes-Benz existing premises and was specified to meet their customer care capability expansion objective following the arrival to market of the Mercedes-Benz Dual Cab Utes and Vans.

XXL CONSTRUCTIONS single point-of-contact, concept to completion, build management solution involved the production by XXL of a design concept drawing, steel detailing drawings, structural drawings, engineering compliance and approval, construction drawings, council regulation compliance, materials procurement, and construction management of the site preparation, the blockwork wall install, the fire-proof sealant install, the electrical install, the doors install, the structural steel frame, roofing and cladding install, the fire safety fixtures install, and the occupancy certification.

The building is architectural in design yet functional. Fire safety requirements demanded one side of the structure be formed from practical blockwork, while the other side wall is composed of architectural matrix panels. The rear wall adjoins the service centre offices to allow ease of movement and communication between departments. The facility is fully accessible from the front via the utilitarian industrial roller doors. The structure is both aesthetically pleasing and purposeful, resulting in a functional space that appropriately and capably reflects the standards and prestige of the Mercedes-Benz brand.
