This gable roofed workshop and office is 33m wide at one end tapering down to 24m wide, to fit the constraints of the site shape and size. It has 6.8m eaves and is 32m long. The design and build includes a mezzanine floor area with; office, lunchroom, bathroom, toilets, and parking underneath. The structure houses an overhead gantry crane for materials handling and has multiple roller doors for ease of access to both sides of the building. Large cantilevered 6m awnings provide a massive, covered storage area.
XXL CONSTRUCTIONS was proud to design and construct a bespoke full turn-key workshop/warehouse for this stalwart Brisbane engineering business's expansion.
The owners of Hillier Engineering successfully secured the adjacent block of land to their business premises, to enable business expansion. XXL Constructions was engaged to incorporate the owners specific list of needs for the build to produce a design that would maximise usable space, on the uniquely shaped block, whilst maintaining compliance with all building code parameters and requirements. Building the structure in such close proximity to the businesses adjacent premises required forethought and consideration, to limit disruption to our client’s daily operating capacity.
The single point-of-contact, concept to completion, build management solution provided by XXL involved production of a concept drawing, design drafting drawings, steel detailing drawings, structural drawings, engineering compliance and approval, council regulation compliance, construction drawings, materials and trade procurement and the build management of the site preparation, the foundation works, the slab laying, the stormwater management install, the structural steel frame, roofing and cladding install, the safety signage & equipment install, the bathroom install and internal fit-out, the car parking hardware install, the line marking, the mobility/accessibility hardware install, the retainer wall construction, the landscaping, and the occupancy certification.
